Department

The Department of Management Studies offers full time PG degree programme, viz. Master of Business Administration (MBA). Students get the advantage of dual specialization, out of - Human Resource Management, Marketing Management, Operations Management and Financial Management. The Department also offers Ph.D. programmes on stipendiary and non-stipendiary basis for full time and off campus candidates. The diversity of the curricula offered through the Department provides the students with the foundation skills that can be used not only in the classroom, but to master challenges in globalized dynamic and competitive markets. This is done through a plethora of channels including lectures, talks, case studies, research projects, group discussion, workshops, seminars, etc. Faculty members possess a blend of academic and professional experience, which facilitates disseminating of knowledge to the students through both classroom sessions and independent student activities. The faculty is highly qualified with international exposure and motivated to inculcate quest for perfection among the students. Short term Training/Management Development Programmes for industry and faculty are regularly organized by Department of Management Studies with MHRD and AICTE collaboration. The Department has well experienced and dedicated faculty members with different specializations. We have well equipped laboratories with state-of-the-art facilities like servers/workstations, desktops and mobile devices.

Workshop

Much of the quantitative research in management and social sciences deals with latent constructs - their operationalization, and their inter-relationships. The operationalization process predominantly involves either development of measure for new construct or refinement of existing measure for given construct. This workshop intends to cover both of these aspects with special focus on developing new measures. The motivation behind conducting this workshop is based on the philosophy that in a research anything can be measured and can be managed effectively. In the development of a scale, we start from an abstract phenomenon (generally called concept), define its meaning and scope, and develop its measure. It is a multi-stage scientific process which incorporates qualitative ways to set up the conceptual scope of phenomenon and robust quantitative assessments to establish reliability and validity. Majority of scales being used in Indian context are mainly adapted versions of western scales, which do not fully capture the contextual reality of the phenomenon. There have been calls in the past for developing India-specific measures for various constructs (management and social science). While, few attempts have been made by Indian scholars in this direction but lot more needs to be done. This workshop will offers a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of scale construction and development process. Session overview with an understanding of scale development process and procedure. More specifically, we will explore how and when scale development is required in social science research. The workshop would be useful for the faculties, trainers, researchers, and professionals.

Objectives of e-Workshop

  • To provide hands-on training on scale development process with application of SPSS and AMOS for exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, respectively.
  • To explain both philosophical and technical aspects of scale development; advanced scale validation techniques –nomological, known group validation, etc.
  • To expose the participants to the process of adapting existing scales in research
